Onírico 1

€4,200.00

Onírico 1 brings together two human figures emerging from a delicate atmosphere of translucent pigments, charcoal and pastel. Their faces and gestures are partially defined, while their bodies dissolve into the pale surface of the paper. A third, almost imperceptible face appears between them, introducing another layer of presence within the dreamlike composition.

Drawing remains central to Dussan's artistic language. His approach carries references to the Italian Renaissance tradition of figurative drawing, while the expressive treatment of the body invites comparisons with the work of Austrian artist Egon Schiele and the psychological intensity of Francisco Goya. Through subtle contrasts between precise contours and dissolving forms, Dussan creates an intimate scene in which memory, imagination and physical presence seem to coexist.

BASPcr — Territorial–Curatorial Connection

Within BASPcr Mesa III — Body and Territory, we bring the painting's interplay between visible and fading figures into dialogue with our territorial research on representation and participation in Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera. Studies of Ciutat Vella's neighbourhood participation structures have documented barriers affecting the involvement of residents from diverse origins, revealing differences between demographic presence and institutional representation. This curatorial connection invites reflection on what it means to be present within a territory without necessarily being recognised, heard or represented in the decisions that shape collective life.

This piece is part of the Contrastes exhibition at Matiz Gallery in 2024, Barcelona. The painting features a horizontal composition on light beige linen. Jordi Artigas's abstraction and artistic identity are evident in this work, where he employs recurring motifs like X shapes or arrows, symbols of his personal visual language. The use of coffee creates unique textures in the background, over which strong, bold black strokes serve as the central characters, developing a sculptural and calligraphic language. The palette primarily consists of earthy tones, with occasional fluorescent and vibrant hues adding contrast and dynamism.
