Artist Representation & Collaborations
Matiz Gallery reviews selected artist portfolios for representation, exhibitions and BASPcr-related projects, with a focus on contemporary, abstract and process-based practices.
Gallery direction
Matiz Gallery is a contemporary art gallery in Barcelona focused on abstract, material and process-based practices from Europe, Latin America and other international contexts. The gallery is currently expanding its artist portfolio and welcomes selected submissions from artists whose work can enter into dialogue with its exhibition programme, collector network and curatorial research.
BASPcr as curatorial framework
Through BASPcr — Barri de l’Art Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera — Matiz Gallery develops exhibitions as spaces of artistic research, intercultural exchange and territorial activation. The programme values practices that engage with memory, migration, displacement, materiality, architecture, image-making, community and lived space.
What Matiz offers artists
Selected artists may be considered for gallery representation, seasonal group exhibitions, short-format exhibitions, BASPcr-related projects, cultural activations, publications, website visibility, collector presentations and collaborations with interior designers, architects and international partners.
What Matiz looks for
We value artists with a coherent body of work, professional documentation, exhibition experience, material or conceptual depth and a clear artistic direction. Emerging artists are also considered when the practice shows maturity, consistency and long-term potential.
International and diverse positioning
Matiz Gallery aims to build a diverse artist portfolio that includes local and international artists, with particular attention to practices shaped by migration, territory, memory, cultural displacement and intercultural experience when these dimensions are meaningfully present in the work.
