Matiz Gallery is an evolving space for contemporary art, experimentation, and cultural reimagination in the center of Barcelona.
Matiz Gallery is a contemporary art space located in the heart of Barcelona, focused on abstract and process-based practices from Europe and Latin America. Our roster includes artists such as Alex Voinea, Jordi Artigas, Palma Alvariño, Alberto Ruiz Villar, Carlos Delgado, Catherine Parra, Lori Goldberg, Rafael Dussan, Simon Cruz, Simon Sepúlveda, and Sébastien Cheramy.
Founded by Ivonne Parra and Juan Ramirez as a platform for artistic experimentation, Matiz is evolving into a site for exploring the intersection between art, migration, and social imagination. Alongside its exhibitions, the gallery collaborates with hotels, restaurants, and architects—integrating contemporary art into everyday spaces through curated installations and design-oriented consulting.
Matiz is currently developing a new curatorial line centered on practices shaped by displacement and mobility. Through the BASPcr project (Barri de l’Art Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera), we are building a framework where the work of migrant and diasporic artists enables the creation of ephemeral, multidisciplinary cultural spaces. These spaces—combining installation, performance, and dialogue—aim to shift dominant narratives about migrant communities and offer moments of visibility, encounter, and self-organization.
Matiz Gallery is a member of Galeries d’Art de Catalunya (GAC).
