Limite Naturam

€4,500.00

Limite Naturam presents three human figures seated along a shared horizontal plane, each adopting a different posture and direction of gaze. The figure on the left faces outward, the central figure lowers their head, while the figure on the right turns sideways, extending an arm into the surrounding space. Their bodies emerge through expressive charcoal strokes, delicate graphite lines and translucent washes of blue, gradually dissolving into the whiteness of the paper.

Dussan combines the precision of classical figurative drawing with a freer treatment of gesture and movement. The elongated composition emphasises the distance between the figures, whose physical proximity contrasts with their apparent introspection. Through the interplay of defined expressions, unfinished contours and open space, the painting evokes a moment suspended between physical presence, memory and imagination.

BASPcr — Territorial–Curatorial Connection

For BASPcr Mesa III — Body and Territory, Matiz places this representation of bodies sharing an undefined space in dialogue with our research into housing conditions and residential displacement in Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i la Ribera. The territorial study examines how housing costs, property relations and residential mobility affect people's ability to inhabit and remain in the neighbourhood. This curatorial connection introduces a question extending beyond the painting's original subject: what does it mean to occupy a space, and which material conditions determine our ability to remain within it?

35 × 80 cm

Acrylic, charcoal, pigments and pastel on laid paper. 2018

This piece is part of the Contrastes exhibition at Matiz Gallery in 2024, Barcelona. The painting features a horizontal composition on light beige linen. Jordi Artigas's abstraction and artistic identity are evident in this work, where he employs recurring motifs like X shapes or arrows, symbols of his personal visual language. The use of coffee creates unique textures in the background, over which strong, bold black strokes serve as the central characters, developing a sculptural and calligraphic language. The palette primarily consists of earthy tones, with occasional fluorescent and vibrant hues adding contrast and dynamism.
