Matiz Gallery presents an exceptional original print by Georges Braque (1882–1963), co-founder of Cubism and one of the most influential figures in modern art. This rare color aquatint, created in collaboration with master printmaker Jacques Villon in 1922–23, belongs to the sought-after E636 edition of 200, and is signed in pencil by Braque with Villon’s signature engraved in the plate.

About This Edition

This original color aquatint was created in 1922–23 and published by Bernheim-Jeune, Paris as part of a limited edition of 200 impressions. The present work is numbered 35/200 and features Georges Braque’s pencil signature, with Jacques Villon’s signature engraved in the plate. Documented in the catalogue raisonné Ginestet & Pouillon E636, it stands as one of the key collaborations between Braque and Villon during the revival of early 20th-century printmaking.

Printed on wove paper typical of the edition, the plate measures approximately 57.7 × 21.5 cm, with full margins preserved. The sheet shows age-related toning and scattered foxing consistent with prints of this period. Its tall vertical composition and Cubist layering make it especially suited for architectural interiors, contemporary residences, and curated design environments.
