BIO
Alexandre Clanis (b. 1990, Bordeaux) is a French contemporary painter based in Bordeaux. Trained as an architect at ENSAP Bordeaux and La Cambre (Brussels), he explores space, rhythm, and memory through large-scale works created on the floor and later raised to confront the viewer. His practice, which he describes as an “affective chemistry,” transforms painting into a territory measured by the body. Clanis has exhibited internationally in France, Portugal, Belgium, and Luxembourg, and is the founder of Coreaù, a contemporary art laboratory and production platform.
What inspires Alexandre?
Clanis draws inspiration from the rhythms of the body, the spatial sensibility of architecture, and the intangible qualities of memory, silence and breath — transforming painting into a living trace of movement and presence.
